Does it matter what kind of college credits I have to get into the Navy?

Does it matter what kind of college credits someone has? i realize that they wont except someone with 15 physical education credits. i have 16 automotive college credits, a GED and an ASVAB score of 59. I talked to a navy recruiter and he said that automotive credits where fine, he also said they need to be "transferable credits," what ever that means..... but then i talked to an army recruiter, he said i had to have "certain kinds of credits." i dont know if he was implying that i needed college math, english.....ect credits. Can someone please clear this up for me. Oh yea i forgot to mention that i have to get a waiver for a misdemenour marijuana conviction on my juvy record (im 21 yrs old now). The navy recruiter said the minor weed coviction wouldnt be a problem as long as i wasnt selling it, but the army recruiter was a total asshole about it. :(
