Can I become an LPN in NY with a 15yo. misdemeanor conviction?

I was convicted of posession in 1997, for 1/4 gram of cocaine. I'm really a diffrent person than I was 15 years ago. The BON in NY said because the charge was so old it wouldn't keep me from getting my lic., I'm wondering if I'll be able to get a job. Anyone know if a nursing home would hire somone in my shoes? Would this prevent me from working in long term care? Thanks.
